Where does your PF contribution actually go?
12% from you, 12% from your employer — but your employer's share splits into two different accounts with very different purposes. Here's exactly how.

Questions people actually ask
- Why isn't my full employer PF contribution showing up in my EPF balance?
- Because 8.33 percentage points of your employer's 12% go to the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS), not your withdrawable EPF account. Only the remaining 3.67% joins your own 12% in the balance you can actually withdraw.
- Does every company cap PF at ₹15,000 of basic?
- No — many mid-to-senior private-sector employers contribute 12% on your full Basic salary regardless of the statutory ₹15,000/month ceiling, since it's more generous, not less, than the legal minimum. Check your own payslip to see which your employer does.
