MoneyVerdict exists to answer one question well: if you switch jobs, will you actually be better off? Not "here's a bigger CTC number" — the real, after-tax, after-notice-buyout, after-relocation number, split into what you'd feel in the first year versus every year after.
What year's rates this uses
Every calculator uses FY 2026-27 income-tax slabs, the Section 87A rebate, standard deduction, and PF contribution rates. These are modelled as unchanged from the structure introduced in Budget 2025, matching what was publicly reported at the time this site was built — if a Budget or CBDT notification changes any of these, this page and the calculators will be updated to match.
What's simplified, on purpose
- ESOP/RSU value assumes straight-line vesting and taxes the full spread at a flat marginal rate. Real vesting schedules, cliffs, and liquidity events vary far more than a calculator can respect — treat this as a rough sense-check.
- Salary breakup defaults to a typical private-sector estimate (roughly 40% Basic, HRA at 50%/40% of Basic for metro/non-metro) when you don't enter your exact offer-letter figures.
- PF is modelled on full Basic pay, not the statutory ₹15,000/month wage ceiling — most mid-to-senior private-sector CTC structures already work this way, but smaller employers sometimes cap at the ceiling instead.
- Notice-period buyout uses the (monthly salary ÷ 30) × shortfall-days convention nearly every Indian employer uses — always check your own contract.
Disclaimer: this is a calculation, not advice
Every number here is arithmetic applied to what you type in — it isn't tax, legal, or personalised financial advice, and nobody at MoneyVerdict reviews your situation. It isn't a substitute for reading your actual offer letter or talking to a chartered accountant about anything unusually large, unusual, or high-stakes. Treat it as a fast, honest first pass at a decision most people currently do by hand across five different tabs — not the final word.
Sources
Tax slabs and rebate thresholds are drawn from the Finance Act structure publicly reported for FY 2026-27; PF contribution rates from EPFO's published scheme rules; the Payment of Gratuity Act formula and 2026 Labour Code eligibility change from public reporting on the Code. None of this is fetched live — every rate lives in one version-dated config file in the codebase, reviewed and updated by hand when rules actually change.
